Located in City Hall, the Finance Department is the City's primary tax and fee collecting, and license issuing department. This department issues:

• Licenses to new businesses
• Licenses to rent property to others
• Licenses for contractors
• Licenses for peddlers and hawkers

Overview

The Finance Department can also answer any of your questions on City tax and fee issues. Other major responsibilities and services that are provided by the Finance Department include:

• Billing and collecting of service fees, police citations and overtime parking tickets.
• Administration of City's semi-monthly payroll and initiate direct deposit to bank for employees.
• Assist Code Enforcement Department to insure compliance with City building and license codes.
• Maintain records and provide information on contractors working within the City.
• Work with residents and businesses with cash flow problems on the payment of past due accounts.
• Preparation of the annual City Budget, revisions and monthly financial reporting.
• Provide fund accounting and maintain general ledgers for approximately 30 separate City funds.
• Administration of State & Federal Grants.
• Administration of the City's long term debt.
• Administer the City's purchasing policies and procedures and competitive bidding requirements.
• Financial Administration of the Police & Fire Pension funds.
• Assist the Personnel Department with the administration of health, property & liablility insurance.
• Administer the City's business & occupation tax credit program for new and expanding businesses.
• Issue monthly parking permits and commercial loading zone permits.
• Issue City business licenses.
• Administration of House Demolition Program
